Which fragrance for which season?

By Atyab

The same perfume does not have the same effect in January as it does in July. This is not a matter of taste, but of physics: heat accelerates evaporation and amplifies diffusion, while cold contains it.

The Principle

The hotter it is, the more a perfume projects. A dense amber fragrance, perfectly balanced for winter, becomes overpowering in summer without a single line of its formula being changed. Conversely, a light, fresh scent disappears in the cold.

Two levers: the olfactory family and the dosage.

Spring

The season for florals and fruit scents. Mild temperatures allow for bright compositions without the risk of saturation.

To wear: Reef 36, Reef 42, Reef Summer Yellow.
Dosage: two sprays.

Summer

This is the most demanding season. Opt for musks and fresh fruit scents, and systematically reduce your dosage.

To wear: Reef Pure Fruity, Reef Summer Tiffany, Reef 19.
Dosage: one spray, on clothing rather than on the neck.
To avoid: gourmands and ambers during the day.

Autumn

The best season for woody and spicy fragrances. The still-mild temperatures allow the trail to express itself without excess.

To wear: Reef 30, Reef Arabs of AlUla, Reef 21.
Dosage: two sprays.

Winter

The season where ouds, leathers, and gourmands reach their full potential. The cold contains diffusion: you can wear compositions that would be impossible in summer.

To wear: Reef Diriyah, Reef Niche 1, Reef Titan.
Dosage: two to three sprays, including on clothing and scarves.

Do you really need several perfumes?

Two are enough to cover the year: a light one for the warmer months, and a dense one for the colder season. A third is a matter of pleasure, not necessity.

If you only wear one, choose a woody or musky fragrance: these are the most versatile families, and dosage is enough to adapt them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you wear an oud in the summer?

Yes, in the evening and with only one spray. It is the dosage, not the material, that causes problems.

Why does my winter perfume seem to disappear in the summer?

It does not disappear: it evaporates faster, and your sense of smell gets used to it more quickly in the heat. Those around you can still perceive it.

How do I adapt to the climate rather than the season?

Think in terms of perceived temperature, not the calendar. A mild autumn should be treated like spring.
